Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2023 is now open for submissions!

Registration for the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2023 has just opened. Now in its 12th year, the internationally acclaimed competition shares important culinary stories from around the world documenting where it comes from, how it’s enjoyed, who harvests and cooks it, and how the cost of living crisis is affecting the people’s ability to eat.

Since its inception, the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year contest has received over 100,000 entries from nearly 100 countries and each year the award is split into several different categories. This year, the 25 categories include a food stylist award, on the phone, an MPB award for innovation, food at the table and many more.

Caroline Kenyon, Director and Founder of the competition, said: “Governments around the world are grappling with the cost of living crisis, food banks are struggling to keep pace with demand, battleships are ready to escort grain from the port of Odessa. every day we continue to cultivate, to gather, to cook, to eat, to party.”

Last year’s winning selection (opens in a new tab) included photos of fishermen in Mandalay, Myanmar casting their nets for the morning catch, a table full of Hakka Chinese dishes from Jiangxi Province, a colorful aerial view of pineapple fields in Chiayi, Taiwan and a portrait mythical Medusa inspired created from vegetables.

The competition is judged by a panel of over 30 chefs, food photographers, cookbook authors, editors and restaurateurs who have years of experience and endless knowledge between them.

2022 finalist Suzanne Becker Bronk said: “I don’t usually enter contests, but I entered the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year contest because the images are so stellar and the contest focuses specifically on food and wine. Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year has elevated the art of food and wine photography with its well-organized and beautifully curated contest. I’m inspired by many of their winners and discovered some great food and wine photographers from around the world.

A cash prize of £5,000 will be awarded to the overall winner, while category winners could receive between £1,500 cash and £300 in vouchers to use at various photography and imaging retailers. Winners will also have their work shared by some of the world’s biggest media such as The Times, Forbes and the BBC.

To enter this year’s competition, go to the photographer’s website Pink Lady Food (opens in a new tab) to register. Entries cost £30 for five images, each additional image costs £6 and the deadline for submission is February 5, 2023.
