NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders, who regularly appears on NBC Nightly News, Todayand MSNBC, is the keynote speaker for the first Donald and Lorena Symposium on Wildlife Photo and Video at Colorado State University.

The free public symposium – Thursday, October 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lory Student Center – features talks from nationally acclaimed wildlife photographers, video storytellers, and teachers whose creative work and research promotes environmental sustainability. man and wildlife. coexistence.

Sanders will present “Send Me There and I’ll Tell the Story” at 1:15 p.m. at the LSC Theater. His presentation will focus on the many wildlife stories he covers between natural disasters, wars and other timely news. While covering breaking news and features, Sanders has more than 30 years of experience providing on-the-ground reporting during hurricanes. He was a member of NBC Nightly News reporting team that received a Peabody Award and the Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of Hurricane Katrina.

He was also one of NBC’s embedded reporters during the Iraq War, traveling with the US Marine Corps. He reported on various battles, including the bitter 11-day conflict at Nasariyah. Additionally, Sanders has extensively covered the War on Terror in Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.
